Free cat bag pattern offered by blackdogworld on Craftsy..

Calling all cat lovers!

I just found an adorable free cat bag pattern on Craftsy designed by blackdogworld. Also included is a eyeglass case and coin purse.

If you have always admired the penny rugs made from wool felt, this would be a great opportunity to try your hand at the blanket stitch which is used to make penny rugs such as my "Harvest Blessings" candle mat.

To get a copy of blackdogworld's free pattern, please click here!

By the way, my "Harvest Blessings" candle mat pattern can be purchased on Etsy as either an Instant Download or by snail mail using all the major credit cards or PayPal.

Below is a picture of my pattern.

Free class offered at Craftsy...

To many dollmakers, drawing facial features is one of the most daunting part of dollmaking. In my spare time, I like to scour the web looking for hints to improve my drawing skills.

Recently I came across a free PDF instructional booklet on Craftsy..Drawing the Human Face: A Primer which is a PDF eGuide by Paul Heaston & Sandrine Pelissier. I haven't thoroughly read it yet, but it does look interesting, so I decided to share with all my dollmaking friends.

Leave me a comment and let me know if you find it helpful.

For those who have never tried the buttonhole stitch, I will be posting a step-by-step how-to video shortly. Once you see how it's done, I think you will find it is really a very easy stitch to do.

Harvest Blessing...

I have been working on a new pattern...not a doll, but a penny rug or candle mat. It should be ready by the end of the coming week.

I have a few more patterns in the works using the buttonhole stitch, as well as some doll patterns that I am working on.

While I was surfing the web, I found a link to a out-of-print doll book called "The Mary Frances sewing book or, Adventures among the thimble people" by Jane Eayre Fryer published in 1913. You can read the entire book online; however, the patterns are not included online.

Here is a link to the book. Look for the word "Read" on the right hand side of the page and you can choose to either read online, save as a pdf or send to your Kindle.

I have a copy of the book reprinted in 1997 by Lacis Publications which does include the patterns. If you enjoy reading the original, perhaps you might want to purchase the reprint so that you have the patterns.

Three little outfits...

...all ready for the three (3) Humpty Dumpty dolls I have been making to sell.

Life has gotten in the way of finishing them as soon as I had hoped, but I do plan to have them available for purchase on my website by mid-week.

By the way, if you haven't been to my Facebook page, I have been working on a new pattern that will be available for download by tomorrow evening. It will be FREE until May 1, 2014.

Bunny Pattern Available Soon!

Friday, March 28, 2014

Our latest pattern is now available for purchase in our Pattern Gallery!

Recently I tried my hand at using wool felt and the buttonhole stitch to create a penny rug. I was immediately hooked imagining all sorts of patterns that could be created using this technique.

This pattern is my first "penny rug" type; it is a full-sized pattern for a napkin holder, silverware holder and a wine glass slipper. Perfect for the Easter table or any spring or summer occasion.

I prefer using wool felt, but the pattern can also be made with 9" x 12" acrylic felt squares sold at most fabric stores. I have been purchasing my wool felt online at Prairie Point Junction.

By the way, I am working on another free pattern...a bunny rabbit. It should be online this weekend.

Wherever I go...Whatever I do...

Dolly and Zoe are my two 13-year-old cockapoos who follow me everywhere.  Here they are patiently waiting while I sew and create!

Today, I have been working on the clothes for the Humpty Dumpty dolls...two outfits finished and one left to finish tomorrow!

Welcome to my dollmaking blog!

I have been a dollmaker and pattern designer since 1992.  In 1995, I created a website called Cloth Dolls by Stitch 'N Stuff where you can purchase my patterns or any of the dolls that I currently have available.

When you visit my website, don't forget to check out my free patterns and hints available from a link in the Pattern Gallery.

I thought I would start out by showing pictures of my three (3) Humpty Dumpty dolls in progress made from my original Humpty Dumpty pattern. These dolls, and the pattern, are one of my best sellers. I have a hard time keeping the completed dolls in stock.

Below is a picture of the three I am currently working on. I am in the process of making their clothes.

Please post any dollmaking suggestions or hints to share.  Also, if you have any questions regarding dollmaking, I will try to answer them.

Be sure to bookmark my blog to watch Humpty's progress!
